I'm looking for a way to play roms from all of the old platforms on this thing (without flashing it). Anyone have any insight?

I have seen online the use of flash carts and such, and I'm curious if anyone has tried it. It is critical that it is plug and play, as I am not eager to void the warranty.

Would you recommend the PSP instead? Why?

My brother has a thing for his DS to play roms. As i recall, it was just your standard microSD chip in an adapter that went into the game slot. From there, it just booted into the game program. He had old final fantasys, Duke Nukem 3d, etc on it. I dont think he had to flash it or anything to get it to work. If you want to know for certain, and what exactly the product that he used, i can ask.

I ordered a Supercard DSone with 8gb, and a Supercard Lite with 2gb, so we'll see how it works. Wink

I looked over this one and the other M4 or R4 or whatever the hell it was, and this one seems the better choice. The other one was ridiculously cheap looking.

Basically, the way it works is that you need a slot 1 for DS and NES games to run roms, and you need a slot 2 for GBA and SNES, it seems.

So, here's how I wound up setting it up, for anyone who is wondering or looking for information.

Slot 1 (The slot DS games use)
- Installed Supercard DSone with 8GB MiniSD card

Slot 2 (The slot GBA games use)
- Installed Supercard Lite with 2GB MiniSD card

For DS and SNES Games, I use the Supercard DS. To use the actual DS hardware, you must use the card in slot 1. DS games will not run from slot 2 or the Supercard Lite. I also have the browser on this card. For SNES, I use a program called SNEmul.

For NES and GBA, I use the Supercard Lite. While you are able to run nesDS from slot 1 (although, for some reason I couldn't get it to work), you don't actually NEED to run anything once you have the Supercard Lite because it has an emulator for NES built right into the firmware already. Some may prefer to use nesDS (although I again could not get it to work on this slot either), it is not needed. To run the GBA titles, it is also already built into the firmware of the DS itself.

So far, I've been able to run every NES rom I've tried to launch from the Supercard Lite, as well as all SNES titles. While I'm sure that some are probably not compatible, I haven't seen any yet.

Next, I'm going to get it working with Genesis roms. Wink We'll see how that goes.

Also wanted to add that this was also working. Megadrive/Genesis emulator in the form of JEnesisDS. So far it's running nicely, no real complaints.
